First look at Takashi Miike’s Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney

Kotaku has released the first image from Takashi Miike‘s (13 Assassins) adaptation of the popular video game Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney!

Miike’s film will be based on the series of games that see the titular character investigate a series of cases, and then actually bring them to court. Sounds like a dull game? Quite the contrary, as these have been some of the most popular games around the world and in their native Japan for the last few years.

Objection! Actually, no: this looks like it is a spot-on rendering of the main character, portrayed here by pretty-boy Hiroki Narimiya (A Lone Scalpel). The incredibly busy Miike, whose Ninja Kids screens at the 15th Japanese Film Festival in Australia from next month, looks like he will bring all the style he has shown in his recent efforts, combined with the bat-shit crazy edge he brought to anime adaptation Yatterman a few years ago.
