A new trailer has emerged for the insanely busy (or just plain insane?) Takashi Miike‘s adaptation of the Nintendo DS game Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney.
Known in its native Japan as Gyakuten Saiban (逆転裁判), Miike’s film will be based on the series of games that see the titular character investigate cases, and then actually bring them to court. Sounds like a dull game? Quite the contrary, as these have been some of the most popular games around the world for the last few years.
Like Miike’s Yatterman and Ninja Kids, Miike has successfully brought to life the look and feel of the 2D animated game, right down to the hairstyles and exaggerated gesticulations of the characters, and a spot-on rendering of the main character, portrayed here by pretty-boy Hiroki Narimiya (A Lone Scalpel).
The trailer doesn’t have English subtitles, but it is very easy to get the gist of what is going on.
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney will be released in Japan in Spring 2012. One for JFF16 perhaps?
