Warner builds LEGO movie for 2014 with Australia’s Animal Logic

LEGO Studio Stun Man Set

Variety reports that Warner will work with Australia’s Animal Logic to create a live-action LEGO world for audiences in 2014. The film will be created entirely in Australia, thanks to incentives from the Federal and New South Wales state government.

Casting of the live action cast will begin in January, but it is expected that the film will be made up of 80% LEGO, thanks to animation house Animal Logic. The group are best known for their animation work on Happy Feet and Legend of the Guardians.

The project has been in development for several years, with Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs creators Phil Lord and Christopher Miller tapped to write and direct. Adding to the pedigree of the film is Chris McKay, director of Adult Swim’s stop-motion animation/comedy Robot Chicken, to serve as co-director on the show.

The Reel Bits, being based in Sydney and all, will definitely be keeping a close eye on this one.
