It was tipped yesterday that this would be the case, but now Top Cat Films has officially announced that Simon West will come about the adaptation of Evan Green’s Dust and Glory, set to shoot in Australia this summer.
Here’s the press release:
Director Simon West (Expendables 2, Tomb Raider, Con Air) has come aboard the car race film DUST AND GLORY.
Based on the much loved Evan Green novel of the same name, DUST AND GLORY tells the true events of the 1950’s redex trials; the longest, roughest, toughest and craziest car race in the world, covering over 10,000 miles around Australia. The race inspired the whole country, which focused on the rivalry between an American hotshot and an Australian legend.
The film is scheduled to begin production in Australia this summer. Jib Polhemus of Simon West Productions, will also join as an executive producer. Top Cat Media’s Robert Galinsky, Elizabeth Howatt-Jackman, and David Parker are producing alongside Blue Star Entertainment’s Jason Shuman and William Sherak. Zach Green will co-produce. The production will soon be going out to cast with a script written by Galinsky.
“Simon West was our top choice and couldn’t be more perfectly suited to tell this story. We are beyond excited to have him” says Top Cat’s Galinsky.
West is currently shooting EXPENDABLES 2 with Stallone, Statham, and Willis in Eastern Europe and recently announced the CG/Hybrid film THUNDER RUN with Gerard Butler, Sam Worthington, and Matthew McConaughey.
