It looks like 2012 will be a year of fractured fairy tales, with Snow White and the Hunstman, Mirror Mirror and now Bryan Singer’s Jack the Giant Killer based on the Jack and the Beanstalk fable.
Starring Nicholas Hoult, Ewan McGrgeor, Stanley Tucci and Bill Nighy, Jack the Giant Killer tells the story of an ancient war that is reignited when a young farmhand unwittingly opens a gateway between our world and a fearsome race of giants.
Unleashed on the Earth for the first time in centuries, the giants strive to reclaim the land they once lost, forcing the young Jack into the battle of his life to stop them.
This is a slightly different take to the one we saw recently in Puss in Boots, and the first adapatation was made back in 1902. There was a direct-to-DVD version that came out last year with Chevy Chase, but this one looks like it will be on a slightly bigger scale…
Jack the Giant Killer (3D) will be released in Australia on 14 June 2012 from Roadshow, and on 15 June 2012 in the US.
