The Grandmothers shoots in Australia with Naomi Watts, Robin Wright and Xavier Samuel; delays I, Frankenstein

The Grandmothers - Doris Lessing

The Grandmothers - Doris LessingThe Grandmothers, that if.com.au describes as, an “erotic tale…boasting an all-star cast”, will begin filming next month in Australia. While it is expected to be in New South Wales, no official announcement has been made.

Naomi Watts and Robin Wright will play two friends who fall in love with each others’s teenage sons. There’s some awkward Christmas parties right there.

Their sons will be played by heartthrob Xavier Samuel, best know for The Twilight Saga, The Loved Ones and this month’s A Few Best Men, and Animal Kingdom‘s James Frecheville.

Directed by Anne Fontaine (Coco Avant Chanel), based on a script from Oscar-winning writer Christopher Hampton.

Produced for Hopscotch, who will handle local distribution (with Gaumont taking international duties), this actually pushes back the start date of Hopscotch’s other production I, Frankenstein back a month until March.
