Saturday mornings are old school. Tuesday is all about the ‘toons, and we scour the web to find some of the latest cool toons for you to check out on a Tuesday. Take that establishment.
American animator Lauren Faust (pictured right) is best known for creating and developing Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and being one of the story artists on Powerpuff Girls since the third season. She’s now undertaken a new series of shorts for DC Nation called Super Best Friends Forever, screening as interstitial segments on Green Lantern and Young Justice.
In Super Best Friends Forever, Wonder Girl (voiced by Grey DeLisle), Batgirl (Tara Strong) and Supergirl (Nicole Sullivan) share the stage. In a very short ‘toon, Batgirl and Supergirl try to convince the super serious Wonder Girl that she should borrow the keys, because Batgirl largely wants to party in Mexico. This is not your typical DC animated short. Bleeding Cool reports that there will only be five of these.
What is amazing about this 76-second cartoon is that it completely captures the personality traits of the three heroines, while subverting them all the same. Got to love those dancer’s thighs on Supergirl, the completely mental depiction of Batgirl and a Wonder Girl already in the shadow of the more famous Wonder Woman.
