Deadline has confirmed the report that young actor Michael Barbieri is in negotiations to join the cast of SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING, the rebooted Marvel film from Sony Pictures. While nothing is official, speculation is already calling him a friend of Peter Parker (Tom Holland), perhaps even Harry Osborn himself.
Barbieri has recently been cast in Sony’s adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower, opposite Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey. His breakout role was in the independent film Little Men, directed by Ira Sachs.
SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING, the first Spider-Man film to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, also stars tars Michael Keaton, Marissa Tomei, Zendaya and Robert Downey Jr. It will be released in on 7 July 2017 from Sony Pictures.
