HBO releases ‘Westworld’ trailer

“That’s right, Delores. You’re in a dream.” So begins the WESTWORLD trailer, the new HBO series that the cable network unveiled today with the latest episode of Game of Thrones. It is set to debut in October on HBO, and this stylish trailer gives us our first in-depth look at the characters and settings.

After prudction being shut down in January for writing time, everything about this series has been shrouded in mystery. Indeed, it’s been years since the show was first mentioned as being in production. Filling in the gaping hole that exists somewhere between the departed Deadwood and Caprica, it’s seems we can look forward to a return of both the Western and smart sci-fi on television.

Based on the 1973 Michael Crichton film of the same name, HBO describes the one-hour drama series WESTWORLD as “a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the evolution of sin. Set at the intersection of the near future and the reimagined past, it explores a world in which every human appetite, no matter how noble or depraved, can be indulged.:
