MIFF 2016: Melbourne International Film Festival adds 30 titles direct from Cannes

NEON DEMON

With the Sydney Film festival done and dusted for 2016, the Melbourne International Film Festival 2016 is getting ready to release its full program on 5 July. Ahead of that, they’ve announced 30 films that will be joining the screenings direct from Cannes International Film Festival this year. This is in addition to the First Glance titles already announced.

From high-profile award winners PERSONAL SHOPPER and GRADUATION (whose directors, Olivier Assayas and Cristian Mungiu respectively, shared the Best Director prize), to high-profile stars such as Adam Driver in Jim Jarmusch’s PATERSON or Park Chan-wook’s erotic thriller THE HANDMAIDEN.

Some of the highlights include Hirokazu Kore-eda’s AFTER THE STORM, Nicolas Winding Refn’s incredibly stylish and divisive THE NEON DEMON, Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne’s THE UNKNOWN GIRL and FIPRESCI Award winning TONI ERDMANNAQUARIUS, which recently won the Sydney Film Festival Official Competition, will also be playing.
