Actor Sam Neill has confirmed that he will be joining the cast of Marvel’s THOR: RAGNAROK, reteaming him with Hunt for the Wilderpeople director Taika Waititi. His interview indicates that he has a small part in the film, but it adds to the rapid expanding cast in the forthcoming the upcoming franchise.
“I’m not really allowed to say this and I can’t tell you what it is…I did a couple of days on Thor just before I came over here,” Neill told Shortlist. “If I say anything else, Marvel’s secret agents — and they are lethal — will come and get me and probably my children, as well.”
The role will also reunite Neill with Jurassic Park co-starJeff Goldblum stars as the eccentric Grandmaster, and fellow Antipodean Cate Blanchett as the villain Hela. Returning casting members include, of course, Chris Hemsworth as the titular lightning wielder, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Idris Elba as Heimdall, Mark Ruffalo and Dr. Bruce Banner/Hulk and Sir Anthony Hopkins as Odin.
THOR: RAGNAROK is being shot by New Zealand director Taika Waititi (What We Do in the Shadows, Hunt for the Wilderpeople). It will be released in Australia on 26 October 2017, and on 3 November 2017 in the US, by Disney.
