Stan Australia has sent over some first look images from ROMPER STOMPER, the new series that continues the story first told in Geoffrey Wright’s ground-breaking and controversial 1992 classic film of the same name. It will premiere exclusively on Stan this Summer. The first photos from the series can be seen below.
Jacqueline McKenzie and Dan Wylie reprise their roles from the original film. Joining them are Lachy Hulme, Sophie Lowe, David Wenham and rising stars Toby Wallace, Lily Sullivan and Nicole Chamoun. In an incredibly salient revival, the crime drama/political thriller explores the human face of extremism, following a new generation of the activist right, the anti-fascists determined to stop them, and the multicultural fabric of a country each of them threatens to tear apart.

Wright directs the series Daina Reid (The Secret River, Never Tear Us Apart: The Untold Story of INXS, Howzat! Kerry Packer’s War) and James Napier Robertson (The Dark Horse).
ROMPER STOMPER joins the likes of Picnic at Hanging Rock, Wolf Creek, and Wake in Fright as another classic Australian film that has been adapted into a series. However, this one appears to be continuing the story and making its themes relevant to the current political climate, which could make for an incredibly fascinating piece of viewing.
