‘Midnight Oil 1984’ hits Australian cinemas in May

Midnight Oil 1984

People forget just how big Midnight Oil were before Peter Garrett’s elected political career. Madman Entertainment will release director Ray Argall’s documentary MIDNIGHT OIL 1984 in cinemas 10 May 2018 for a limited season around Australia. You can check out the new trailer below.

MIDNIGHT OIL 1984 will offer audiences the chance to see the band up close and personal on the big screen for the first time. The film features incredible unseen footage of the band in the years when they became Australia’s most iconic group while also balancing Peter Garrett’s first foray into politics. Director Ray Argall has created an inspiring testament to the power of music and creativity to engage and unite audiences.

Taking us back to a time when the threat of nuclear war was ever present, and democracies seemed more like fascist states, w…wait. That sounds familiar. This behind-the-scenes takes us back in time to the sweaty tour of 1984, and the path that would lead Garrett to his political career away from the musical stage.
