Second ‘Venom’ trailer shows the symbiote in action

Venom (2018)

When the first VENOM trailer dropped back in February, most people found that it was distinctly lacking in the titular character. The new trailer doesn’t come anywhere near close to making the same mistake twice.

One of Marvel’s most enigmatic and badass characters comes to the big screen, starring Academy Award® nominated actor Tom Hardy as the lethal protector Edide Brock a.k.a. Venom. The dream of the 90s is alive at Sony!

The mantle has passed through a number of hosts over the years, with Brock the most enduring of them. At one point, Venom was the mantle of Peter Parker’s high-school contemporary Flash Thompson and a black ops agent for the government.

From the new trailer below, Ruben Fleischer’s film shows no sign of being connected to the wider Sony Spider-Verse, with this particularly origin story appearing to be more tied to Brock’s relationship than anything else. In the comics, the character first appeared as a black replacement costume for Spider-Man. It soon become apparent that the black costume was an alien symbiote, who ultimately became one of Spidey’s greatest villains. This film, however, is unrelated to the current Spider-Man film franchise.

VENOM releases in cinemas 4 October 2018 in Australia (and 5 October in the US)
