Simon Baker wins Best Direction at Australian Directors’ Guild Awards

The 2018 Australian Directors’ Guild (ADG) Awards have just been announced in Melbourne. Simon Baker has taken the award for Best Direction for his adaptation of Tim Winton’s BREATH.

Other winners included Larissa Behrendt for Best Direction of a Documentary Feature forAfter the Apology, and Fiona Banks, who won 2 ADG Awards for her work on Wentworth and Mustangs FC.

Previously announced was Ray Argall as the recipient of the Cecil Holmes Award.

The Awards took place earlier this evening at the Sofitel Melbourne on Collins. Presenters including Kat Stewart, Xavier Samuel, Adam Elliot and Michala Banas, presented 16 awards at the event which recognises excellence in the craft and art of directing, as well as acknowledging individual contributions by Australian Screen Directors to film, television, documentary, animation and interactive media.
