Paul Hogan to star in ‘The Very Excellent Mr. Dundee!’

The Very Excellent Mr. Dundee

Crocodile Dundee is back! Again! Kind of! Following the success of the Super Bowl ‘Dundee’ Australian Tourism Campaign, Transmission Films has announced that the original Crocodile Dundee himself, Paul Hogan, is heading back to the big screen in a new feature film entitled THE VERY EXCELLENT MR DUNDEE!

Hogan will play himself and on the brink of receiving a Knighthood for services to comedy. “Don’t do anything to mess this up”, his manager tells him. However, despite all his best efforts, the next six weeks sees his name and reputation hilariously destroyed.

The film is directed by Dean Murphy (Charlie & Boots, Strange Bedfellows) who is producing alongside Nigel Odell. Executive Producers are Kathy Morgan from LA based KMI who is handling international sales, Christopher Figg & Robert Whitehouse from London’s Piccadilly Pictures, Sherman Ng from Singapore’s Salt Media and Andrew Mackie & Richard Payten from Transmission Films.

The film will be set in Los Angeles and starts production in July with shooting taking place in Australia, Los Angeles and Vancouver.

The supporting cast is apparently a matter of top secrecy. So we’re just going to assume Shane Jacobson is in there somewhere, because there’s an obligatory 5 Australian films a year in him.

So information is given as to the release date, but we’re assuming a 2019 date somewhere. This project could go either way so here’s hoping it’s more Crocodile Dundee than Crocodile Dundee II. Regardless: it sounds like a way to beat those tax time blues.

In case you’ve forgotten it, here’s that Dundee commercial.
