Netflix ‘Flavors of Youth’ trailer: new anime from ‘Your Name’ creators

Makoto Shinkai’s Your Name was one of our favourite anime films of the last few years. Now Netflix has revealed that they will release the new film from CoMix Wave Films, the studio behind the beautiful production. You can check out the trailer and poster below. It streams globally from 4 August 2018.

FLAVORS OF YOUTH is co-directed by Yoshitaka Takeuchi, who has previously worked on 5 Centimeters Per Second and Children Who Chase Lost Voices. He and producer Noritaka Kawaguchi (Your Name) will attend the North American premiere in July at the Anime Expo in Los Angeles.

The synopsis for the Japanese/Chinese co-production is somewhat light on details:

From CoMix Wave Films, the creative visionaries behind the international phenomenon Your Name, comes Netflix’s new anime feature film FLAVORS OF YOUTH. Told in three chapters in three cities,FLAVORS OF YOUTH explores the simple joys of life through sensual memories and how the beating heart of love cannot be defeated by the flow of time.

The IMDB listing also notes Li Haoling and Yi Xiaoxing (Surprise) as co-directors on the feature. This is definitely one we’re looking forward to.
