Following a long bout of radio silence since the 2017 Christmas Special, the BBC has released the first teaser trailer for Series 11 of DOCTOR WHO – and the first (official) footage of 13th Doctor Jodie Whittaker in action. “The universe is calling,” says the tagline.
Aired in the UK during the FIFA World Cup final between France and Croatia, where the maximum amount of eyes would have been glued to the set, the trailer doesn’t actually show us any footage from the series proper. Instead, it’s a series of stylised vignettes introducing us to the three new companions Graham (Bradley Walsh), Yasmin (Mandip Gill) and Ryan (Tosin Cole) being surrounded by wibbly wobbly regeneration energy.
Of course, the Internet got a sneak peak at the Series 11 pilot in the last few weeks when footage was leaked online. The BBC was reportedly set to take legal action against the uploaders.
DOCTOR WHO is set for a massive debut at Comic-Con International in San Diego later this week, and we can probably expect to see a full trailer and plenty of cast interviews and photos around then.
