The film will be set in the 1990s, marking the first cinematic appearance of the Skrulls. Many have surmised that this means the introduction of the Secret Invasion storyline from the Marvel Comics.

Marvel Studios once again dominated the Comic-Con in San Diego with a slew of news. The big news came with the casting of CAPTAIN MARVEL, the debut of a new DOCTOR STRANGE trailer, new logos for BLACK PANTHER, THOR: RAGNAROK and GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2. Plus concept art for SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING and a new GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY attraction at Disney California Adventure. Finally, a new fanfare and logo for the studio itself has been revealed.
Casting: Captain Marvel and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Brie Larson has been cast as the lead role of Carol Danvers in CAPTAIN MARVEL, confirming a long-standing rumour about her casting. Very little is known about the film, except that Larson’s casting would lean towards the more recent comic book arcs from the likes of Kelly Sue DeConnick. She will make her debut in Joe and Anthony Russo’s Avengers: Infinity War in 2018, with her solo movie to follow in 2019 following the second half of Infinity War.
It also seem to have been confirmed that Kurt Russell’s role has been confirmed as Peter Quill’s father, and is playing (wait for it)…Ego the Living Planet. James Gunn goes into great detail on his Facebook page as to what form this will take.
Trailer: Doctor Strange
The brand new second trailer for DOCTOR STRANGE has arrived, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Benedict Wong, Michael Stuhlbarg, Scott Adkins, Benjamin Bratt with Mads Mikkelsen and Tilda Swinton. It adds a little more substance to the previous trippy trailer.

Director Denis Villeneuve reveals a first look into the dystopian world of the highly anticipated Blade Runner sequel which is scheduled to start filming later this month. Sony Pictures Releasing Australia has also confirmed that the UNTITLED BLADE RUNNER SEQUEL releases in Australia 5 October 2017.
“I’ve always been attracted to science-fiction films with strong visual signatures that lead us into unique parallel worlds and the original ‘Blade Runner’ is by far the best of all time,” says Villeneuve. Ridley Scott had the genius to blend science-fiction and film noir to create this unique exploration of human condition. The new ‘Blade Runner’ is an extension of the first movie a few decades later.”
Denis Villeneuve (Sicario, Prisoners) is directing and principal photography is scheduled to begin this month. The film will be released by Warner Bros. in North America and Sony Pictures Releasing International will distribute in all media for all overseas territories.
The sequel is set several decades after the 1982 original, with Harrison Ford reprising his iconic role as Rick Deckard. The film is written by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green, and succeeds the initial story by Fancher and David Peoples based on Philip K. Dick’s novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. Story details are not being revealed.
Cast (so far) includes: Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Robin Wright, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Carla Juri, Mackenzie Davis, Barkhad Abdi and Dave Bautista, David Dastmalchian and Hiam Abbass. EW has revealed the first concept art from GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2, the sequel to the 2014 blockbuster adaptation from Marvel Studios and Disney. It features Drax, Groot, Yondu, Star-Lord, Rocket, Nebula, and Gamora, along with new character Mantis. The giant explosion in the background is yet to be named. We’ll call it Fred.
Portrayed by actress Pom Klementieff, the character first appeared in the comics in 1973, but became a part of Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning’s Guardians of the Galaxy in 2008 following the Annihilation: Conquest event. “She has never really experienced social interaction,” describes executive producer Jonathan Schwartz. “Everything she learns about dealing with people, she learns from the Guardians of the Galaxy, which is a very weird group to learn your social intricacies from.”
In the explosive art from Andy Park, you’ll also notice the tiny seedling on Drax’s shoulder that is Baby Groot, silhouetted against Fred. He was last seen dancing to the Jackson 5 in the credits of the first film. Schwartz offers up the intriguing tidbit: “He doesn’t have the wisdom and experience of that Groot. He’s a younger Groot and a more rambunctious Groot. The question is, is he the same Groot, just smaller? Or is he a different Groot that’s sprung up from the seed of the first Groot?”
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 hits cinemas in the US on 5 May 2017from Disney.
Disney sent us some wonderful new concept art for the third chapter in their Cars franchise, with our first official look at CARS 3,which cruises into theaters on 15 June 2017.
Owen Wilson is back in the driver’s seat as the voice of #95, Lightning McQueen, who faces a new challenge in CARS 3. Blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast racers, the legendary Lightning McQueen is suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves.
To get back in the game, he will need the help of Cruz Ramirez, an eager young race technician with her own plan to win, plus inspiration from the late Fabulous Hudson Hornet and a few unexpected turns. Proving that #95 isn’t through yet will test the heart of a champion on Piston Cup Racing’s biggest stage!
Directed by Brian Fee (storyboard artist “Cars,” “Cars 2“) and produced by Kevin Reher (A Bug’s Life, La Luna short). “Having worked on the first and second “Cars” movies, I’m honored to be directing CARS 3,” said Fee. “These characters are like family to me, so it’s very special to be able to follow Lightning McQueen as we dig even deeper into racing and McQueen’s relationship to the sport than we ever have before. The mix of thrills and emotion in the film is going to be really special.”

The official Star Wars site has revealed some concept art for the forthcoming animated TV series Star Wars: Rebels. The news was announced at the Star Wars Celebration event in Germany over the weekend, the second such fan convention to take place in Europe. Composer John Williams has also been confirmed to score the highly anticipated Star Wars: Episode VII.
For Star Wars Rebels, fans were given their first look at the Ghost, which will be the main character’s ship and play a big part in the series, as well as a computer rendering of a very McQuarrie-esque Stormtrooper, the interior of a Star Destroyer, and more. The show’s logo, a minimalist yet powerful design, is notable for its orange and black color scheme, which recalls the flight suit colors of Rebel pilots in the original Star Wars trilogy.

The series is set between the events of Episode III and IV — an era spanning almost two decades never-before explored on-screen. It takes place in a time where the Empire is securing its grip on the galaxy and hunting down the last of the Jedi Knights as a fledgling rebellion against the Empire is taking shape.
Another bit of exciting news was that legendary composer John Williams will be returning to score Star Wars: Episode VII. This will certainly give the film, directed by J.J. Abrams and produced by Kathleen Kennedy, a sense of continuity with the other films in the Star Wars saga. Below is a video of Williams talking about the process of scoring the films.

At the Iron Man 3 panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios revealed that the long-rumoured Guardians of the Galaxy film would be go for launch as the 1 August 2014 release from Disney.
From the concept art (below), the line-up has been revealed to be Star-Lord, Draxx the Destroyer, Groot, Rocket Raccoon and Gamorra.
This move has been long-rumoured, especially after the appearance of (SPOILERS!) Thanos during the end-credits of The Avengers.
Last month, the first official photo from the set of Iron Man 3 was revealed, and now Marvel has released the first concept art from the film by artist Ryan Meinerding. An imperilled Tony Stark appears to be mid-transformation into Iron Man, seemingly without the aid of bracelets or briefcases. This might be the strongest indication to date that the film will be taking elements from the Iron Man: Extremis storyline, in which Stark uses nanotechnology to literally store the suit within his body. Could this be Iron Man Armour Mark VIII? Or it could just be a really cool picture. Iron Man 3 is scheduled for 3 May 2013, and is currently filming.
Following the release of no less than four teaser trailers this week, Disney•Pixar has released two new pieces of concept art from Monsters University that give us a little bit more info about the picture, which is a prequel to Monsters Inc. For example, the university was founded in 1313.
Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal) and James P. Sullivan (John Goodman) are an inseparable pair, but that wasn’t always the case. From the moment these two mismatched monsters met they couldn’t stand each other. Monsters Universityunlocks the door to how Mike and Sulley overcame their differences and became the best of friends.
Monsters University is directed by Dan Scanlon (Cars, Mater and the Ghostlight, Tracy) and produced by Kori Rae (Up, The Incredibles, Monsters, Inc.).
Monsters University is set to arrive on 21 June 2013.
