  • Red Band Trailer for Seth MacFarlane’s Ted

Red Band Trailer for Seth MacFarlane’s Ted

Finally! A film about a rude teddy bear! Be warned, that this first red band trailer (from Funny or Die) for Seth McFarlane‘s Ted is kind of high on the course language content, making this one for the big kids.

Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane brings his boundary-pushing brand of humor to the big screen for the first time as writer, director and voice star of Ted. In the live action/CG-animated comedy, he tells the story of John Bennett (Mark Wahlberg), a grown man who must deal with the cherished teddy bear who came to life as the result of a childhood wish…and has refused to leave his side ever since. It also stars Mila Kunis.

Ted is released on 12 July 2012 in Australia from Universal.

Total Recall is an action thriller about reality and memory, inspired anew by the famous short story “We Can Remember It For You Wholesale” by Philip K. Dick.  Welcome to Rekall, the company that can turn your dreams into real memories.  For a factory worker named Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell), even though he’s got a beautiful wife (Kate Beckinsale) who he loves, the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vacation from his frustrating life – real memories of life as a super-spy might be just what he needs. But when the procedure goes horribly wrong, Quaid becomes a hunted man. Finding himself on the run from the police – controlled by Chancellor Cohaagen (Bryan Cranston), the leader of the free world – Quaid teams up with a rebel fighter (Jessica Biel) to find the head of the underground resistance (Bill Nighy) and stop Cohaagen. The line between fantasy and reality gets blurred and the fate of his world hangs in the balance as Quaid discovers his true identity, his true love, and his true fate.

  • Japanese Trailer and Poster for Brave

Japanese Trailer and Poster for Brave

Bleeding Cool has unveiled very slick Japanese poster and new trailer has been released for Disney/Pixar’s Brave, the next epic adventure from the folks who almost never do anything wrong. Clearly the Japanese have forgiven Disney/Pixar for the antiquated and slightly racist depictions of Japan in the disappointing Cars 2. This trailer offers new footage, and is cut together in a very atmospheric way that gives us a new hope for the film. A higher-quality version is available on the official Japanese site, but the one below has subtitles.

A grand adventure full of heart, memorable characters and signature Pixar humour, Brave uncovers a new tale in the mysterious Highlands of Scotland where the headstrong Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald) defies an age-old custom and inadvertently unleashes chaos, forcing her to discover the meaning of true bravery before it’s too late.

Brave will be released in Australia on 21 June 2012 and 22 June 2012 in the US from Disney.

  • The Trailer for Piranha 3DD Arrives Online

The Trailer for Piranha 3DD Arrives Online

Piranha 3DD International poster 2The release of the two official posters last week sent up a sure signal that a trailer for Piranha 3DD wouldn’t be far behind. It’s here, and it’s filled with the same brilliant low-concept of boobs, blood and outrageousness that made the first film a success. In fact, this one has more of just about everything except restraint.

Directed by John Gulager (the Feast series) from a screenplay by Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton (Saw IV through VI), it features returning cast members Christopher Lloyd and Ving Rhames.

Piranha 3DD is TBA in Australia from Roadshow Films.

  • New Trailer for Marvel’s The Avengers Arrives

New Trailer for Marvel’s The Avengers Arrives

The Avengers Assemble posterAnother week, another trailer for The Avengers. This time out, we get a little bit more plot detail, although most of what we knew (that is, aliens invading under Loki, Earth’s mightiest heroes forced to band together) hasn’t changed one iota. While not as impressive as the previous Super Bowl trailer, this still has us understandably buzzed. This one is everywhere on the web right now, so we understand if you are just coming here for the delightful commentary.

Starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson, and directed by Joss Whedon, Marvel’s The Avengers is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series The Avengers, first published in 1963.

The Avengers is released in Australia on 25 April 2012 from Disney. It will be released in the US a week later on 4 May 2012.

  • Ridley Scott and Fuji Television Launch Japan In A Day

Ridley Scott and Fuji Television Launch Japan In A Day

    Japan In A Day

Last year, we experienced a unique crowd-sourced documentary called Life In A Day, the first major experiment in a user generated feature, using the most compelling footage from the submissions. Inspired by Kevin McDonald’s film, Ridley and Tony Scott are producing a new crowd-sourced feature based purely on Japan, which gave rise to some of the most compelling footage in the first film.

Japan In A Day is an extraordinary project to create the definitive self-portrait of Japan today, filmed by you on 11 March 2012, inspired by Life in a Day. It is dedicated, with our deepest sympathy, to those who lost their lives and those who are suffering as a result of the earthquake and tsunami that struck east Japan last year.

At 00:00 on Sunday 11 March 2012, Ridley Scott and Fuji TV invite you to capture the reality and intimacy of your day and to upload it here at www.youtube.com/japaninaday.

The resulting film will be a powerful and moving snapshot of Japan today, which will premiere in cinemas, and be screened around the world.

Extended Clip and Sizzle Reel from Disney’s John Carter

John Carter poster - AustraliaDisney’s John Carter is almost here, and we’ll be able to bring you a full review next week when our embargo lifts. In the meantime, Disney has sent over a new clip showcasing the extended sequence in which Carter (Taylor Kitsch) battles the white apes. From Academy Award®–winning filmmaker Andrew Stanton comes “John Carter”—a sweeping action-adventure set on the mysterious and exotic planet of Barsoom (Mars). “John Carter” is based on a classic novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, whose highly imaginative adventures served as inspiration for many filmmakers, both past and present. The film tells the story of war-weary, former military captain John Carter (Taylor Kitsch), who is inexplicably transported to Mars where he becomes reluctantly embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the planet, including Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) and the captivating Princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins). In a world on the brink of collapse, Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes that the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands.
