Watch the new ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ trailer

Can he swing from a web? That and a whole lot more in the new trailer for SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING, freshly thwipped from Sony Pictures Entertainment.

In the trailer we see a young Peter Parker (Tom Holland) trying to make his way in the world as Spider-Man following the events of Captain America: Civil War. While Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) encourages him to be a “friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man,” Peter’s newfound sense of responsibility and matching suit makes him yearn for something more, especially when new villain Vulture (Michael Keaton) takes to the streets.

Featuring the obligatory scene of a hero holding two halves of a heavy object together, the film hits Australian shores on 6 July 2017, before no doubt smashing some box office in the US over the 7 July 2017 weekend.

    ‘Justice League’ trailer arrives

By jove, we think they’ve got it! Following days of character posters and teaser snippets, Warner has debuted the trailer for JUSTICE LEAGUE, the highly anticipated team film that brings together the DC Extended Universe. It will be released on 16 November 2017 in Australia from Roadshow Films, following a 10 November 2017 release in the US.

The tone of the trailer, set to the ubiquitous “Icky Thump” from the White Stripes and a cover of The Beatles’  “Come Together,” is all about the epic and frenetic nature of the union. Focusing on the banter between the would-be team, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of newfound allies Diana Prince (Gal Gadot), Arthur Curry (Jason Momoa), Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) and Victor Stone (Ray Fisher) for a purpose unknown. The great thing about the trailer is that it actually gives away very little of the plot and introduces a concept not previously seen in Snyder’s MurderVerse: fun.

In addition to the main cast gracing the poster, we catch glimpses of Amber Heard as Mera, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon.

‘The Fate of the Furious’ trailer is the best kind of nuts

Now that Dom and Letty are on their honeymoon and Brian and Mia have retired from the game—and the rest of the crew has been exonerated—the globetrotting team has found a semblance of a normal life. Trailer for Australian abduction thriller ‘Hounds of Love’ is unnerving

Following the world premiere at the Venice Film Festival, the new thriller HOUNDS OF LOVE has a creepy new trailer and an Australian release date of 1 June 2016 via Label Distribution.

The debut film of Western Australian director Ben Young, it focuses on the seemingly ordinary suburban couple of John (Stephen Curry) and Evelyn (Emma Booth). Except for the fact that they abduct and murder young girls. Ashleigh Cummings starsVicki Maloney, the latest teenage abductee.

The trailer, embedded below, appears to be shot entirely from her point of view as the terrifying strains of “Carol of the Bells” inches her captors ever closer. Variety described the film as “redolent of pure evil,” while THR noted Young’s “impressive control of visuals to build suspense and from the spiky performances of its fearless cast.”

A terrific year for Australian cinema keeps on keeping on. Cue the Kate Bush tunes.

  • Disney-Pixar’s ‘Cars 3’ Next Generation extended teaser trailer arrives

Disney-Pixar’s ‘Cars 3’ Next Generation extended teaser trailer arrives

With all the substance of the first two Cars films combined, the new trailer for CARS 3 promises “more speed, more horsepower, more of everything.” We’re already assuming that this will be a hard-hitting examination of doping in sports and the pressure to perform past your prime. Or it could be about really fast cars.

Blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast racers, the legendary Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) is suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves. To get back in the game, he will need the help of an eager young race technician, Cruz Ramirez, with her own plan to win, plus inspiration from the late Fabulous Hudson Hornet and a few unexpected turns. Proving that #95 isn’t through yet will test the heart of a champion on Piston Cup Racing’s biggest stage!

CARS 3 hits Australian cinemas on 22 June 2017 from Disney, a week after the US release date of 16 June 2017.

  • First teaser trailer for ‘Blade Runner 2049’

First teaser trailer for ‘Blade Runner 2049’

Sometimes all it takes to evoke an emotion is a bit of synth music, especially when Vangelis is doing the synthing. The first teaser trailer for BLADE RUNNER 2049 dropped this morning, as Warner Bros. Pictures and Alcon Entertainment unveiled the first look at the highly anticipated sequel to the 1982 classic. It is released in Australian cinemas on 5 October 2017, and on 6 October 2017 in the US.

Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years. The trailer gives us very little of that story, focusing more on grandiose imagery and moments, conjuring up our collective memories of the original. This is wholly in keeping with the spirit of that film, and this gives us our first glimmer of hope that they get it right.

Starring Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Carla Juri, Lennie James, with Dave Bautista and Jared Leto, the film is directed by Denis Villeneuve, the acclaimed director behind films like this year’s Arrival, along with SicarioPrisoners and Incendies.

  • First teaser trailer for Luc Besson’s ‘Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets’

First teaser trailer for Luc Besson’s ‘Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets’

eOne has released the first international trailer for VALERIAN AND THE CITY OF A THOUSAND PLANETS,  the highly anticipated new film from Luc Besson. Starring Cara Delevingne, Dane DeHaan, Clive Owen, Ethan Hawke and Rihanna, it is due out in the US on 21 July 2017, with the Australian date yet to be scheduled.

The film is an adaptation of the French comic Valérian and Laureline by Pierre Christin and artist Jean-Claude Mézières, which Besson will write and direct. The film’s title is similar to the second volume in the Valérian and Laureline series, The Empire of a Thousand PlanetsValérian and Laureline was first created in 1967 in Pilote magazine, and ran through until 2010. The sci-fi comic’s influence has been seen most directly in the original Star Wars series, as illustrated in our original post on the film’s production. The synopsis for the film and the teaser trailer/image follows:

Valerian (Dane DeHaan) and Laureline (Cara Delevinge) are special operatives for the government of the human territories charged with maintaining order throughout the universe. Valerian has more in mind than a professional relationship with his partner – blatantly chasing after her with propositions of romance. But his extensive history with women, and her traditional values, drive Laureline to continuously rebuff him.

Under directive from their Commander (Clive Owen), Valerian and Laureline embark on a mission to the breathtaking intergalactic city of Alpha, an ever-expanding metropolis comprised of thousands of different species from all four corners of the universe. Alpha’s seventeen million inhabitants have converged over time, uniting their talents, technology and resources for the betterment of all. Unfortunately, not everyone on Alpha shares in these same objectives; in fact, unseen forces are at work, placing our race in great danger.

Watch the stunning new ‘Logan’ trailer!

Of course it’s set to Johnny Cash’s cover of “Hurt.” 20th Century Fox has dropped the highly anticipated first trailer for LOGAN, the third Wolverine film and what seems to be a bookend for the X-Men franchise’s most enduring character. Directed by James Mangold, it hits cinemas on 3 March 2017.

MORE: Wolverine 3 titled LOGAN with new poster and script page

Starring Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Richard E. Grant, Boyd Holbrook, Stephen Merchant, and Dafne Keen. We know that the film will contain Mister Sinister, and from the trailer, a much older Wolverine and Charles Xavier. There is little doubt that the film will draw its inspiration from Mark Millar and Steve McNiven’s Old Man Logan, a modern classic of the genre.

This is the 9th and probably last time Jackman will tackle the role, in a script by David James Kelly.
