Trailer for Australian abduction thriller ‘Hounds of Love’ is unnerving

Hounds of Love - Stephen Curry

Following the world premiere at the Venice Film Festival, the new thriller HOUNDS OF LOVE has a creepy new trailer and an Australian release date of 1 June 2016 via Label Distribution.

The debut film of Western Australian director Ben Young, it focuses on the seemingly ordinary suburban couple of John (Stephen Curry) and Evelyn (Emma Booth). Except for the fact that they abduct and murder young girls. Ashleigh Cummings starsVicki Maloney, the latest teenage abductee.

The trailer, embedded below, appears to be shot entirely from her point of view as the terrifying strains of “Carol of the Bells” inches her captors ever closer. Variety described the film as “redolent of pure evil,” while THR noted Young’s “impressive control of visuals to build suspense and from the spiky performances of its fearless cast.”

A terrific year for Australian cinema keeps on keeping on. Cue the Kate Bush tunes.
