Exclusive Interview: Bill Farmer at Oz Comic-Con

Bill Farmer

Bill Farmer is a voice actor and comedian who has been the official voice of Disney’s Goofy for over 27 years. From his formative years in Kansas to stand-up comedy in Texas, Farmer managed to score the gig for Goofy four months after his move to Hollywood. Along with Goofy, Pluto and Horace Horsecollar for Disney, including the classic A Goofy Movie, Farmer has also appeared as iconic characters such as Foghorn Leghorn, Yosemite Sam and Sylvester in the feature Space Jam. From Astro Boy to Sam and Max Hit the Road, Farmer’s filmography spans video games (Kingdom Hearts, Dead Rising), TV shows (The New Adventures of Mighty Mouse, Robot Chicken) and over 3400 appearances as Goofy! in 2009, he was named a Disney Legend and it is easy to see why.

Bill was in Australia at Oz Comic-Con in Melbourne on 6 and 7 July 2013. We had the distinct pleasure of chatting with him about his early career, his start in the voice acting industry, Sam and Max and of course, lots and lots of Goofy.

We need to thank Bill for his time, and the good people at Oz Comic-Con for arranging the chat. Follow Bill on Twitter @goofybill and visit his official website at http://billfarmer.net/. You can find out more about the con and its expansion around Australia in 2014 at http://www.ozcomiccon.com/
