‘Justice League Dark’ gets an animated film

Justice League Dark

The British Board of Film Classification has let slip that the next of the DC Universe Animated Original Movies will be JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK. The news comes as the BBFC classifies the bonus features on Batman: The Killing Joke,  the next animated film to come out from DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.

The BBFC says that the Sneak Peak at JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK will be approximately 7 minutes long. If history is a guide, this will involve preliminary animation, storyboards, and interviews with key creatives.

The Justice League Dark comic debuted in 2011, focusing on the magical heroes of the DC Universe. The team consisted of John Constantine, Madame Xanadu, Deadman, Shade, the Changing Man and Zatanna. Constantine, of course, had his own recent television series that was cancelled after a season, and it will be good to see him back in some kind of form in the near future.

For a number of years, Guillermo del Toro was working on getting Justice League Dark to the big screen, but ultimately dropped out of that project due to other commitments.
