‘Flashpoint’ finds directors in John Francis Daley, Jonathan Goldstein

The Flash in Justice League

Following his comedic appearance in last year’s Justice League, Variety reports that the DC Extended Universe has found a pair of directors to helm The Flash solo film.

FLASHPOINT looks like it will hire Spider-Man: Homecoming and Vacation writers John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, suggesting a lighter tone to the film.

The production has been troubled for a number of years. Back in April 2016, The Flash film lost then-director Seth Grahame-Smith. The studio quickly scrambled to replace him with Dope director Rick Famuyiwa shortly afterwards. However, in November 2016 Famuyiwa also left the film.

From the title, we can guess that the film will be loosely based on the 2011 DC Comics event. In the series, Barry Allen wakes up to find that the timeline has radically changed and he appears to be the only one able to realise it. The series led to a line-wide reboot of all of DC’s 52 titles, and it’s possible it will serve as the lightning rod at the centre of the recent shake-ups at the studio.

The film doesn’t currently have a release date.
