No sooner than our review for Takashi Miike’s 101st film went up, than a new teaser trailer for his 102nd went live. LAPLACE’S WITCH (ラプラスの魔女), based on the novel by Keigo Higashino, is being released in Japan on 4 May 2018. The new teaser, below, features a song (“Faded”) by Norwegian record producer and DJ Alan Walker.
Following the murder of two people suffocated by hydrogen sulfide at two different hot springs, the police bring geochemist Professor Shusuke Aoe (Sho Sakurai) onto the case. Soon he meets Madoka Uhara (Suzu Hirose), who guesses that a natural phenomenon will take place.
The film also stars Sota Fukushi and Lily Franky. There’s no word yet on if and when this will get a local release. However, we tend to expect these things to turn up at a festival somewhere.
