Lee Hae-Young’s ‘Believer’ hits Australian/NZ cinemas on 7 June

The South Korean crime drama BELIEVER (독전) surpassed one million moviegoers in just five days in its native box office, and now it’s coming to Australia and New Zealand. CineAsia is releasing Lee Hae-Young’s (The Silenced) thriller locally on 7 June 2018 to selected cinemas.

The film was released on 22 May in Korea, and became the first Korean movie to top the local box office in six weeks and the fastest Korean film to reach 1 million admissions in 2018, according to the Korean Film Council. The Next Entertainment World release earned $14.9 million from 1.8 million admissions over six days, including some $9.21 million earned between Friday and Sunday. It accounted for 54% of the total weekend box office, knocking Deadpool 2 and Avengers: Infinity War into second and third places respectively.

The Korean remake of Hong Kong thriller Johnnie To’s Drug War, it stars Kim Sung-Ryoung (Keys to the Heart) and Kim Ju-Hyeok (The Tooth and the Nail), the last role he appeared in before he died in a car accident on 30 October 30 2017.
