Sony Pictures Releasing Australia has released the first trailer for STORM BOY, a contemporary retelling of Colin Thiele’s classic Australian tale. Directed by Shawn Sheet, it is released in Australian cinemas on 10 January 2019 from Sony.

‘Storm Boy’ has grown up to be Michael Kingley, a successful retired businessman and grandfather. When Kingley starts to see images from his past that he can’t explain, he is forced to remember his long-forgotten childhood, growing up on an isolated coastline with his father. He recounts to his grand-daughter the story of how, as a boy, he rescued and raised an extraordinary orphaned pelican, Mr Percival. Their remarkable adventures and very special bond has a profound effect on all their lives.

First announced back in May 2017, stars Geoffrey Rush and Jai Courtney will be joined by David Gulpilil, Trevor Jamieson, Morgana Davies and Finn Little as ‘Storm Boy’ in his first major role.

Produced by Ambience Entertainment’s Michael Boughen (Tomorrow, When the War Began, The Loved Ones, Killer Elite) and Matthew Street (Tomorrow, When the War Began, The Bank Job, W, The Messenger), the adaption is penned by Justin Monjo (The Secret Daughter, Spear).
